Island Yoga hosts a series of specialized retreats throughout the year. Mostly one week in duration, these intensives provide the yoga student an opportunity to immerse deeply into one or several specialized aspects of the yoga tradition and to share these experiences with fellow yogis in a more personal and intimate environment.

Chakra Yoga Flow
Chakra Yoga sessions will awaken the seven different chakras or wheels of life. The sequences and postures are designed to enhance the energy flow in your body and awaken and balance the seven energy centers, removing blockages, trauma, suppressed feminine archetypes or needs in order to create a space of centeredness, creativity, confidence and joy in your life.
Yin yoga and Yoga therapy for women
Healing afternoon sessions of yin yoga or gentle yoga therapy to promote the chi and circulation in the body, release physical or mental tensions stored in the (myo-)fascial layers of the body and practice mindfulness. These classes will promote hormonal balance and rejuvenate, restore and nourish the body and soul on a deeper level.
Guided meditation and mantra
Daily you will be guided through an inner journey to meet the Sacred Feminine, the Wild Women Who runs with the Wolves, or one of the seven sacred goddesses of the feminine psyche in you. Mantra’s are powerful tools to transform and heal on the subconscious level and create powerful changes in your belief system, behavioral patterns and manifestations.
Journaling near the ocean
Surrounded by the beauty of Mother Earth on this tropical island of Koh Yai Noi, we daily take time to meet the ocean and find a personal space for yourself to reflect, journal and tap into your creativity, listen to the voice of your soul, express yourself, expand your horizons and refine and manifest your path and direction in life. You will receive tools to support this inner journey to re-affirm the aspects of your life and femininity that have been neglected, suppressed or inhibited to make powerful changes in your life.
Ayurvedic Yoga Massage and Partner Yoga
You will be offered a combination of partner yoga practices and Ayurvedic yoga massage techniques to awaken the healing qualities we all have in us. Through the healing power of touch, prana and connection we learn to develop relationship qualities such as trust, stability, openness. At the same time we are expressing boundaries, both verbal and non-verbal, while learning to apply gentle yogic stretches and massages, having fun, laughter and taking ourselves not too serious!

Veerles classes are dynamic and fun, while at the same time they lead you into relaxation and a happy state of mind. Veerle ends her class with some beautiful mantra from Tibet or an inspiring philosophical story, in which she shares some of her wisdom. With a background in Western psychology and Eastern philosophy, Veerle can be of good guidance in any troublesome life situation or become a friend, who draws you in with her joy & curiosity for life!
When ever I think about Veerles classes, the color yellow comes to my mind. This color is surrounding her and radiating out in a warm, peaceful and happy energy that affects all of us. She always encouraged me with my inner process, always finding the right poses and words at the right time. At the end of every class you leave the mat with a yellow, golden glow in your heart.
About The Facilitator
Veerle is a Certified Yoga Teacher E-RYT 200 RYT 500 level in vinyasa flow, pranayama, yin and restorative yoga. With 10 years of yoga practice and many international yoga trainings, Veerle has developed a profound knowledge in teaching yoga, assisting students and tailoring classes to the students specific needs. With a background as a western psychologist, Veerle always had a strong fascination for the mind. Discovering the Yoga Sutra’s and philosophy was a turning point in her career and she shifted to the more holistic perspective of Yoga on the mind, body, and soul. Together with the Tibetan Buddhist teachings about the nature of the mind and cultivation of compassion, the Himalayan Yoga Tradition, the Taoist Five Elements and Traditional Chinese Meridian theory, these philosophies are the main sources of inspiration in Veerles teachings.
