What To Expect

Our daily schedule will follow roughly the timetable below but is subject to change. We will aim to take 1.5 rest days per week to give enough time to integrate your learnings.

  • 7:30 am-10:00 am Mantra work & Asana
  • 10:00 am-11:00 am Breakfast
  • 11:00 am-2:00 pm Anatomy and/or Asana clinic
  • 2:00 pm-3.00 pm Lunch
  • 3:00 pm-5:30 pm Philosophy & Resting practices and meditation and/or Practice teaching/Homework

The Modules you will learn:

Module 1

Movement principles, integration, anatomy for yoga teachers, beginning pranayama and meditation and mantra practices; and creating a balanced personal practice.

Module 2

Lower back fundamentals, integrating the shoulder girdle, introduction to organs, fluid and skeletal, developmental movement patterns, continuing pranayama, mantra, and meditation.

Module 3

Backbends, arm balances, inversions, and hip openers, continued explorations of pranayama, mantra, meditation, and GIM (Guided Imagery and Music); sequencing, and assisting.

Module 4

Integrated whole movement; vinyasa and restorative applications, pranayama, mantra, and meditation, GIM  explorations; continued sequencing, and assisting.

We will experience ‘Know Your Rhythm’ (KYR) – a training program that Karen and Arnab B. Chowdhury bring to seekers to help them discover their musicality and their own sense of rhythm in life and work.

About The Facilitator

Karen Miscall-Bannon is a master yoga instructor: senior Yoga Alliance-registered 500 E-RYT, an IAYT-certified Yoga Therapist, and co-leader of “Know Your Rhythm” with Arnab B. Chowdhury of Pondicherry, India. She leads Yoga Teacher trainings and workshops around the world. Karen has vast extensive knowledge of anatomy, with a focus on yoga therapeutics, grounded from her bodywork practice of over 20 years.  She brings a wealth of yoga philosophy, asana, pranayama, mantra, and meditation knowledge to provide a well-rounded and complete approach to yoga studies.

Karen began her studies in the Iyengar tradition and began practicing ashtanga vinyasa in 1999. She studied with Patty Townsend at the Yoga Center Amherst, MA from 2001-2012, where she became certified at the 200-and 500-hour levels in Embodyoga®, and is certified at the E-RYT 500-hour level by Yoga Alliance.  She assisted and guest taught in the YCA’s Embodyoga® teacher trainings starting in 2004, and co-led 200-hour teacher trainings starting in 2009 with Suzanne Manafort at Newington Yoga Center.

Karen relocated to northern CA in 2012, where she is teaching classes, workshops, and is leading 200-hour and 300-hour Hatha Yoga teacher training programs in the greater Sacramento area. She is an ambassador and program director for Mindful Yoga Therapy, and volunteers at the local juvenile detention facility teaching yoga to the inmates. She is presently collaborating with Arnab Chowdhury from Pondicherry, India on a program called ‘Know Your Rhythm”, which marries asana, mantra, and mudra, and rhythm in explorations to help access the flow state from the inside out.

Karen has extensive knowledge of anatomy, with a passion for yoga therapeutics, stemming from her bodywork practice of over 18 years.  Karen brings a deep love of yoga and yoga philosophy to her teaching, and is known for being able to make abstract concepts accessible to her students.  She gratefully brings what she has learned from her teachers and her own practice to her students, to assist them in deepening their awareness of body and mind through the practices of yoga.
