Testimonials from Karen’s Students
I completed a 200 hour training with Karen in winter 2015. As a registered nurse, Karen’s in depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology resonated with me from the first time I encountered her. She has outstanding depth of knowledge regarding yoga philosophy and is able to weave that perspective into the science of yoga without overwhelming the student with superfluous information.
Studying with Karen has been one of the foundational experiences of my yoga journey since I started over a decade ago. Karen’s wisdom runs deep, from anatomy and physiology to philosophy, pranayama and mantra. Karen is a true teacher in the sense that she has investigated for herself all the information she embodies and shares with students. I am forever grateful to call Karen my teacher. Having taught for over 4 years before finding Karen, my teaching style has taken on a new level of embodiment, understanding, intellect, heart, and grace. Karen both encourages those she teaches to find their own path and provides the decades of wisdom from her personal journey, leading to a harmonious and inspiring teacher-student relationship. I will recommend Karen as a teacher for the rest of my life. I wouldn’t be the teacher I am without her guidance.
Krista Louise Hagman
I took my 200 hour YTT with Karen at my local studio because she was a teacher I went to and respected. I admit I wasn’t sure what I would be in for, I just knew that I wanted to know more and deepen my practice. Karen’s teaching exceeded all of my hopes and expectations. I finally understood why alignment matters; to move prana through the body, and I finally felt that flow of energy. She opened my eyes to all aspects of Yoga and how asana is just the beginning of the deeper work that happens in the body/mind/spirit. I started teaching a few months after completing the training and felt 100% prepared to offer classes. I have now been teaching for 1 year and have left my day job to pursue yoga full time. Karen helped me find my way to a deeper spiritual practice, because that is what I was truly looking for. Her training is so in depth, and really takes you into what Yoga is. I will forever be grateful to have her as my teacher and guide.

Karen began her studies in the Iyengar tradition and began practicing ashtanga vinyasa in 1999. She studied with Patty Townsend at the Yoga Center Amherst, MA from 2001-2012, where she became certified at the 200-and 500-hour levels in Embodyoga®, and is certified at the E-RYT 500-hour level by Yoga Alliance. Karen has extensive knowledge of anatomy, with a passion for yoga therapeutics, stemming from her bodywork practice of over 18 years. Karen brings a deep love of yoga and yoga philosophy to her teaching, and is known for being able to make abstract concepts accessible to her students.
